

Initial Teacher Certification Now Available in Martinsburg
The College of Human Resources and Education is pleased to offer Elementary Teacher Certification in the Eastern Panhandle. This innovative program will combine interactive online learning, blended locally based classroom experiences, and carefully selected field based experiences in the local area, to provide individuals with the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to make a difference in the classroom. Students also have the opportunity to earn their Master of Arts in Elementary Education by taking a few additional courses.
Additional Opportunities in Reading and Early Childhood Education
- Individuals also have the opportunity to pursue an additional program to earn Reading Specialist credentials and be a highly qualified reading teacher. An additional specialization in Early Childhood Education may also be added.

- We offer the following programs online for individuals who are already certified teachers interested in expanding their credentials and/or degrees.
- West Virginia University’s Department of Curriculum and Instruction/Literacy Studies from the College of Human Resources and Education provides a quality online master’s program for certified teachers interested in earning a Master of Arts in Elementary Education or Secondary Education from a prestigious research university. Students in the Secondary program may pursue concentrations in Science or Social Studies content areas.
