West Virginia University's semester schedule is different than the public school calendar. Classes taught within the high school may follow this public school schedule, but online and on-campus courses will not. High school students should check start dates and times when they register for a college course. WVU's academic calendar can be found at http://calendar.wvu.edu/.
On-Campus
Whether on WVU's Downtown or Evansdale campus, these courses will be filled predominantly with traditional age college students. These classes will give you the realistic experience of a college classroom environment, expectations, and discussions. You must be granted 'College Release' from your high school to attend WVU classes during the public school day
Online
Self-motivated ACCESS students are welcome to try a web-based courses. Reliable Internet access and basic email capabilities are essential. Review the list of online courses.
After School
With high school usually dismissed by 3pm, late afternoon classes are also an option.
In the Summer
WVU offers many classes in the summer both online and on-campus. Most courses are six weeks long but some are 3, 9, or 12 weeks long.
In the High School Setting
A very limited number of courses are taught in high schools during the regularly scheduled school day. Not only are they convenient to you but a reduced tuition structure is applied to these courses. Your high school guidance counselor is the best source of information on this opportunity. |
